Welcome
to the Children's Ministries site!
Welcome to the Diocese of Calgary Website. I hope the information will be helpful to you in your ministry with children. The site is enhanced with your contributions. There are so many varied and creative ways to share "the story" with our children. Please send pictures, ideas, websites, stories and questions to dioceseofcalgary.children@shaw.ca. They will be posted within the week.
Before we know it Lent and Easter will be upon us. I have posted some specific website that I hope will be helpful to you. Please send your good ideas!
I wish you many blessings in 2005 as you partake in this very important of ministry with our children. May you help their "little lights" to shine!
Elizabeth Short
Coordinator of Children's Ministries.

DATA
BASE
I am
updating my data base. If you haven't already, please send
in the name, address, phone number and email of your Sunday
School/Children's Ministries contact person, along with the
name of your parish. If you are not a contact person for your
parish but would like to be on the email list, please feel
free to submit your email.
WORKSHOPS
I am
more than happy to come out to parishes and conduct workshops
with your Sunday School Teachers. I can work with you ahead
of time to come up with a program that will best serve your
needs. Please email or call.
SHARING
RESOURCES
There
are some parishes who have difficulty coming up with funds
to purchase Sunday School materials. If you have material
from previous years that has not been used, you can box it
up, label it and get it to me. If you are a parish in need
of materials, please let me know.
VANNING
This
summer's Vanning Program was very successful. We had two teams,
Lexi Grey/Allison Wiig and Emily Bolinger/Shauna Levson. They
visited a total of 13 parishes in rural points of the Diocese,
conducting week-long Vacation Bible School. This is a wonderful
ministry of our Diocese, run totally on donations. Approximately
250 children benefited from this program. We were able to
provide summer employment for 4 very able young women. Other
than the actual Vanners all the work of Vanning is done by
volunteers. The Vanning committee meets approximately once
a month. We are in desperate need of members to serve on this
committee. If you think you would like to be part of this
important ministry, please contact me.
