Visio Divina: Seeing the Word with The Saint John's Bible

At 7:00 pm on Thursdays during Lent, St. Edmund's, Calgary (8336 - 34th Avenue NW) is offering Visio Divina using The Saint John's Bible.  While Lectio Divina is a method of praying with scripture, Visio Divina is a method for praying with images or other media.  The Saint John's Bible is the first completely handwritten and illuminated Bible to have been commissioned since the invention of the printing press.  Following the Rule of St. Benedict, The Saint John's Bible invites readers of the Word to "listen...with the ear of your heart" and to "see with the eyes of faith."

Thursday, February 15: The Baptism of Jesus (Mark 1:4-11)

Thursday, February 22: Call of the Disciples (John 1:35-42)

Thursday, March 1: Sower and the Seed (Mark 4:1-9)

Thursday, March 8: The Transfiguration (Mark 9:2-8)

Thursday March 15: Raising of Lazarus (John 11:17, 20-27)

Thursday March 22: The Crucifixion (Luke 23:33-46)
