Looking for a way to deepen your understanding of the Christian faith and to enhance the connection between what you believe and how you live your daily life?  The Education for Ministry program combines independent study and weekly small group discussions to bring a basic grounding of theological education to Christian lay people.

EfM explores the content and origins of the Bible, follows Church history from its earliest days, and examines issues in Judeo-Christian theology.  Guided theological reflections help to connect our faith understanding with Scripture and Christian tradition, and translate this into the cultural context of today.

Sessions run from September to May/June.  There are three groups currently meeting in Calgary.

For past students, there is also Mentor training being planned.

For more information, please contact Carol Tubman (ctubman@shaw.ca; (403) 277-9104) or Jennifer Solem (jsolem@shaw.ca; (403) 804-2768).

The Diocese will be holding a Pensions Study Day on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.  All members of the General Synod Pension Plan (both clergy and lay) and their spouses are invited and encouraged to attend.  The Study Day will be held at Christ Church Calgary (3602 - 8th Street SW) and , although there is no charge to attend, participants are asked to register by contacting Christ Church (phone: (403) 243-4680; email: office@christchurchcalgary.org) prior to August 31 so that lunch arrangements can be made.

The Study Day will consist of two presentations.  The first one from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon will see Judy Robinson, our National Directory of Pensions talking (mostly) about the General Synod Pension Plan.  If time permits, other national church plans (disability, etc.) may also be discussed.  The second presentation from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm will have a representative from Service Canada talking about the Canada Pension Plan and the Old Age Security plan.
