ACW Annual Conference 2018 - April 20 & 21

Companions of the Bishop Dinner - May 14, 2018
Please join us on Monday, May 14 for our next “Companions of the Bishop” dinner. The dinner will be held at the Ranchmen’s Club in Calgary with guest speaker Primate Fred Hiltz. We are pleased to have the Primate with us to present his thoughts on the theme “The Church In and For the World."
This fund-raising event is for the Bishop’s Discretionary Fund, which covers expenses that the Bishop incurs that are not covered by the Diocesan budget, especially in supporting clergy of the Diocese.
This will be an opportunity to support the Bishop's Discretionary Fund financially with a suggested donation of $250. Charitable donation receipts will be issued by the Diocese automatically for donations over $25. The cost of the dinner is $75 per person (no receipt).

Position Available - Director of Finance
The Anglican Diocese of Calgary seeks a Director of Finance. This is a permanent full-time position with a competitive salary, pension and benefits. The Director of Finance provides leadership in all areas of finance including accounting and administration. A recognized professional accounting designation (or equivalent experience) and a minimum of five years management experience in finance, accounting and administration is required, preferably in a non-profit setting. The Great Vigil of Easter - Saturday, March 31
The Church of the Good Shepherd (408 - 38th Street SW, Calgary) will be conducting this service celebrating the Resurrection. Following the BAS liturgy of the lighting of the Paschal candle, reading the story of redemption, the renewal of baptismal vows, and the celebration of the Eucharist, all surrounded by inspiring music, we will join our hearts and voices together to proclaim the victory of Christ. After the service, we will continue the celebration by sharing in a potluck meal.

Verger - Christ Church, Elbow Park
The Anglican Parish of Christ Church, Elbow Park, Calgary, seeks applications for the position of Verger, full time. Christ Church is a strong, active congregation that is committed to building up the body of Christ through liturgy, proclamation, faith formation, life-long learning, community involvement and outreach, justice advocacy, and ministry for and with all ages.
Under the supervision of the Incumbent and in collaboration with parish leaders and committed members, the Verger will contribute to the above as they:
- maintain our buildings, equipment and grounds in a clean, safe and functional condition
- help the community's parish home reflect the importance of our faith in Jesus Christ
- help to welcome members of the parish and public into our worship, fellowship and work
This position is an opportunity to enjoy being part of a multi-staff parish team, and work and serve with members whose ministry arises from a variety of strong life experience and diverse community involvement. The successful candidate will have experience in building and grounds maintenance, demonstrated skills in public interaction, and strong organizational skills to serve in the complexities of a busy church community and its partnerships in the broader community.
The verger will work Sundays, and Tuesday to Friday, occasionally supporting special events and worship beyond these hours as part of the parish team.

Images of Spirituality is an Ecumenical Women's Gathering from April 6 to 8, 2018, at the Entheos Retreat Centre.
The theme this year is Holy Women Inspired by God.
Come and learn from the stories of Holy Women from the past and allow yourself to be encircled by God's love, to pray, meditate, adventure into art, writing, music, dreams and visions.
Session Leader is Shirley Cunningham, a visionary artist and author of Chasing God and Kissed by God: Holy Women Create!
Worship Leader is the Rev. Julia Kimmett. Julia has been in ministry for 24 years in Calgary and Okotoks and has taken mission teams to Africa and the Dominican Republic.

Seeking Incumbent for St. Peter, Okotoks
The Most Rev. Greg Kerr-Wilson seeks a full-time Incumbent priest for St. Peter, Okotoks. This parish, located in a community of about 28,000 people just south of Calgary, covers all age groups with an average age of 50 plus, and currently averages about 85 people. The Parish ethos expresses the Anglican Tradition with an evangelical and charismatic emphasis. The worship expression is contemporary, making use of a variety of liturgies and music. There is one worship service on Sunday, at 10:00 am. The Parish Mission statement says, "As part of God's global family, we are ordinary people striving to live out and share God's rescue plan, helping and encouraging each other to become mature in the faith of Jesus."

Preventing Financial Fraud and Intervention - April 28
A free three-hour workshop, led by Joan Braun, lawyer, mediator and social worker, will be held Saturday, April 28 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, at St. Peter Anglican Church (903 - 75th Avenue SW, Calgary). Session One is entitled Preventing Financial Fraud, and covers strategies and tips on how legal documents such as wills, powers of attorney and advanced directives can protect your wishes later in life. Session Two is entitled Intervention, and gives strategies that friends and family can use to reach out or intervene in situations where an older adult is a victim of financial abuse. Learn how to protect yourself and others who have been or could be affected by this issue. This event is sponsored by St. Peter's and St. Martin Anglican Churches, Calgary. Lenten Visio Divina - St. Edmund's, Calgary
Visio Divina: Seeing the Word with The Saint John's Bible
At 7:00 pm on Thursdays during Lent, St. Edmund's, Calgary (8336 - 34th Avenue NW) is offering Visio Divina using The Saint John's Bible. While Lectio Divina is a method of praying with scripture, Visio Divina is a method for praying with images or other media. The Saint John's Bible is the first completely handwritten and illuminated Bible to have been commissioned since the invention of the printing press. Following the Rule of St. Benedict, The Saint John's Bible invites readers of the Word to "listen...with the ear of your heart" and to "see with the eyes of faith."
