A Call to Prayer for the Election of Our New PrimateFive Bishops Nominated The General Synod will choose a new Primate, to replace the retiring Archbishop Fred Hiltz in Vancouver on Saturday, July 13. The nominated Bishops are The Right Rev. Jane Alexander (Edmonton), The Most Rev. Ron Cutler (Nova Scotia & PEI, and Metropolitan of Canada), The Most Rev. Greg Kerr-Wilson (Calgary, and Metropolitan of Rupert's Land), The Right Rev. Linda Nicholls (Huron), and The Right Rev. Michael Oulton (Ontario). “Almighty God, giver of all good gifts, look on your Church with grace, and guide the minds of those who shall choose a Primate for our beloved Church, that we may receive a faithful servant who will care for your people and support us in our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord.” |
Prayers for General Synod
In order to surround the General Synod with prayer, and especially the Primatial election in which our Archbishop Greg Kerr-Wilson is a candidate, the Synod Office will be open on Saturday, July 13, from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Come pray, visit, and be informed of the election results. The Anglican Fellowship of Prayer also has prayer resources available for the General Synod events. They can be found here. |

Archbishop Greg Kerr-Wilson is pleased to appoint The Rev. Matthew Perreault as Curate at All Saints, Cochrane, effective August 11, 2019. Archbishop Greg is pleased to appoint The Rev. Anthony (Tony) Grainger as Interim Priest-in-Charge at St. James, Calgary, effective September 1, 2019. Please pray for Matthew and Tony as they begin these new ministries. |

Education for Ministry2019/2020 Registration is now open Education for Miinistry is a program of theological education for lay people. There are four years of study, but participants commit for one year at a time, meeting in small groups with a trained mentor. The program combines academic study with components to help participants take what they learn about Scripture, church history, theology and ethics into their own lives and hearts, supporting them to live out a vibrant baptismal ministry in the church and in the world. Diocesan Archivist Michael HoskinMission Trip to Angola Michael Hoskin, currently Archivist for the Diocese of Calgary, is also an associate missionary with SIM Canada. Michael's God-given gifts are in the library sciences, and a seminary library in the African nation of Angola has need of Michael's expertise. He intends to serve a one-year term in Angola, improving the quality of the library, particularly to see what can be done with electronic resources. He has been studying Portuguese for the last year in preparation (Angola is a Portuguese nation). Donations to Michael's ministry can be made by clicking here. |
Annual Returns
We are requesting that each parish ensure that their Financial Information and the General & Statistical Form has been submitted to the Diocesan Office. The National Church requires the statistical information, and the T-3010s are due June 30, so we require your Financial information. The Annual Return Forms can be found on our website under Resources/Documents/Annual Return Forms. We would appreciate having your Missional Footprint forms in to our office at your earliest convenience, as well as any missing documents that have not yet been submitted. Thank you so much to those of you who have sent your Annual Returns in already. |
Parish Events
Cathedral Church of the Redeemer, Calgary: Section Lead Positions for the Cathedral Choir: Applications are now open for Section Lead vocal positions at the Cathedral (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass) for the 2019/2020 season. Full details are available here. The initial review of applications has begun. Applications will be considered until all positions are filled. For further information, please contact the Director of Music, Dr. Neil Cockburn.
Christ Church, Millarville: The 57th Annual Flower Festival, Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14: A Tea of scones, homemade strawberry jam and whipped cream will be held at the Church House on Saturday, July 13 ONLY, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cost is $6.00 per person, $3.00 for children 6 and under. Strawberry Recipe Cookbooks and jars of strawberry jam will be available for purchase. As usual, the church, grounds and cemetery will be beautifully decorated with flowers. Donations of potted plants, floral arrangements and cut flowers are needed. If you can provide these, please call Cathie Scatterty at (403) 938-7717. Flowers should be brought to the church on Friday evening (July 12) around 6:00 pm. Children are welcome to help place flowers on the graves in the cemetery. The flowers can still be viewed on Sunday at 11:30 am at our Church Service. Everyone is invited to attend.
St. Edmund, Calgary: Summer services and events: A reminder that St. Edmund's, Bowness is once again changing our service times for July and August to an evening service at 7:00 pm. (There will be no morning services.) If you are out camping on the weekend, travelling, or have company in town this summer and find it difficult to make it back on Sunday morning for a regular service, feel free to pop in for one of our evening services. We will have a variety of Eucharist services, evening prayers and Celtic evening prayers throughout the summer. Everyone is welcome. For information, email us here or call (403) 288-6331. All Saints Retreat Centre, Cochrane
The All Saints Family Centre Society is a registered non-profit society connected to All Saints Anglican Church in Cochrane, providing community outreach. We offer a variety of courses, workshops and retreats, as well as space for rent for courses, speakers and retreat days.
