Cathedral Church of the Redeemer Stampede Parade Fundraiser a Success
The Cathedral Church of the Redeemer hosted a Stampede Parade event on Friday, July 5. The event took place at the Cathedral’s parish hall, which is located along the 6 Avenue parade route. Attendees had front row seats to the festivities in bleacher seating or could take shelter in the parish hall for some hot Tim Horton’s coffee when the cold wind picked up. Despite the weather, the event was a success. Everyone enjoyed the parade and fellowship. Attendees came from multiple parishes, and it was a pleasure to host Archbishop Greg Kerr-Wilson and his wife Vicki at their first Calgary Stampede Parade. We also had several visitors to Calgary purchase their tickets at the door – tourists from New Brunswick, Australia, the U.S.A, and Belgium. Funds raised through ticket sales will go to support the Cathedral’s outreach activities. Thanks to our online ticket reseller, Calgary-based GenerousSolutions, all proceeds go to the Cathedral. This isn’t the first time the Cathedral has used the Stampede Parade to fundraise; quite a few years ago a group of parishioners sold hot dogs and coffee curbside! This event wouldn’t have been possible without the time and energy from our volunteers, donations from several parishioners, and the endorsement of the Cathedral’s Parish Council. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful support. Don’t miss out on next year’s event – watch for coming news in future newsletters. |
