Missional FootprintsSharing Mission and Outreach Each week, a parish profile will be posted, briefly describing the Missional work that is taking place at the Parish level. This week we will look at St. George, Stettler. St. George, Stettler reports that 50% of the congregation is regularly engaged with outward focussed mission work. Their outreach involves service at the Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, their Pancake Supper, offering shelter in the church when needed, and welcoming newcomers. And they are eager to do more. They build their faith to serve others with a Prayer group, and discuss with other Christian leaders in the community where the needs for service are. They also are looking forward to the new Lay Ministry courses. We celebrate their achievements and praise God for their continued faithful work in their community. |

Companions alongside the Sisters of St. John the Divine
The Anglican Sisterhood of St. John the Divine invites women of any denomination, from the age of 21 and up, to travel as Companions along an ancient path, from September 2020 to July 2021. The program is for women who have: a desire to deepen their relationship with God, a willingness to follow Jesus in his radical obedience, and an openness to the leading of the Holy Spirit in the path of life; membership in the Body of Christ, whether through baptism or intention, and regular participation in some spiritual or religious community; and the ability to live creatively with others in community. Room and board are provided by the Sisterhood. Companions, in turn, use their gifts to share in the work of ministry. Participants learn a love for prayer, practice the presence of God while working alongside the Sisters, and grow in wisdom and knowledge through spiritual formation classes for the Companions and if desired, through courses at Wycliffe College. For more information and applications, contact Sister Constance Joanna at (416) 226-2201 x 316 or companions@ssjd.ca. |
