Missional FootprintsSharing Mission and Outreach Each week, a parish profile will be posted, briefly describing the Missional work that is taking place at the Parish level. This week we will look at St. Aldhelm, Vulcan. The parish of St. Aldhelm, in the southern part of our Diocese, states that over half of their parishioners are involved in outreach. Programs that involve the parish are the Food Bank, with both volunteers and donors, and the Christmas Adopt-a-Family program. Members of St. Aldhelm's assist with hospital visits, offering services at the seniors' home and offering to drive those who need a ride to appointments. St. Aldhelm hosts a Bible Study, and this year held the Alpha Course, inviting those seeking answers about faith to learn about Jesus. The congregation continues to flourish, with an expanding choir and Sunday School. The Rev. Gordon Cranch reports that he offers "...a blessing once per month for readers, communion assistants, Sunday School teachers, choir and Tom, cleaners, churchwardens/vestry, flower arrangers, the Treasurer and greeters." These blessed members are then sent out to "go forth to love and serve our Lord." We praise God for all the work being done at St. Aldhelm to build the kingdom of God. |
