Missional Minute
The Missional Coaches have been bringing workshops to parishes and we have had some great feedback! It was excellent! I would like to see a follow-up, session on Communication and Community. Thank you and God Bless. M Thank you for the information. Wow. I didn’t realize how many ways there were to be missional! I am excited about the possibilities. G We would love to come and walk alongside your parish, finding where you are already doing missional things, and ways in which what is happening might become missional. Invite us! Mindset on mission is our specialty. |

Job Posting - Full-Time RectorSt. Laurence, Calgary The Anglican Parish of St. Laurence, Calgary is seeking a full- time rector. St. Laurence, located in southwest Calgary, Alberta, is a spunky, open-minded Anglican community. We love to ask questions, experiment with new things and, through the Wisdom Centre, to contribute to the larger conversation about how to renew and revitalize Christian life in the 21st century. As a 60-year-old parish, we have never been reluctant to embrace new challenges and to bravely travel down “roads less taken.” We are seeking a spiritual leader to walk with us, side-by-side, into the future, always keeping Jesus’ steadfast instruction to “be not afraid” in our collective hearts. Would you like to join us on this journey? To obtain a parish profile and/or to apply, please contact: The Ven. Dr. Pilar Gateman, Diocesan Executive Officer. Deadline is June 15. |

Worldwide Knit in Public DaySaturday, June 11 To celebrate "Worldwide Knit in Public Day" (who knew there was such a thing?!?), on Saturday, June 11, knitters at Holy Cross, Calgary are invited to bring a knitting project, a lawn chair, a hat and a water bottle, and park ourselves in front of the main doors of the church to work on prayer shawls or a personal project - in public! Those who crochet or do hand work would be welcome, too. This activity will not only give knitters an opportunity to work on something wonderful and build community, but also offer outreach to anyone passing by, as we highlight our Prayer Shawl ministry. We also challenge other parishes to hold their own "Knit In Public" events (and we’d love to see pictures!). We are thrilled that St. James, Calgary has accepted our challenge. For more information about this project, please contact Carol Tubman. |

Donations for Relief Efforts
It has been three months since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It’s not the sort of milestone one likes to note, yet we must. Since February 24, more than 8 million Ukrainians – women, children and elderly – have been forced to leave their homes and find safety within Ukraine, and 6.5 million people have left the country, some living in crowded refugee camps or in cities, vulnerable to other stressors. According to the United Nations, 3,778 civilians have been killed and 4,186 wounded. The Ukrainian government estimates 2,500 to 3,000 soldiers have been killed, and 10,000 wounded. The Russian government has recorded 1,351 soldier deaths, and 3,825 wounded. Canada is home to the third largest population of Ukrainians in the world (second only to Ukraine and Russia). One of those Ukrainian Canadians is Patricia Maruschak, PWRDF’s Director of Partnerships and Programs, who started with us four days after the invasion began. “The first weeks of the war were so upsetting,” Maruschak told the Winnipeg Free Press. Besides having Ukrainian heritage, Maruschak has also lived and worked in Ukraine for many years. “I still have friends and former colleagues in that country, and some relatives. It’s heartbreaking to hear how their lives have been shattered.” The response from Canadians grew quickly. Anglican churches have launched fundraising campaigns, held countless events and organized benefit concerts to show their solidarity. To date, PWRDF has received more than $800,000 in donations from individuals and parishes. To read more about this and other PWRDF initiatives, click here. |
Thank You!St. Saviour Anglican Church, Riga, Latvia Dear friends around the world, From the bottom of our hearts, we cannot thank you enough for supporting our "Baznīcu nakts" (Night of Churches) event by sending us cards for our special display. In all, we were blessed to receive cards from more than 250 churches in 36 countries throughout the world! Throughout Saturday evening, more than 500 people visited the church and were able to enjoy your cards and learn about your special churches. You can see all of them on a map I have created here. We attached them hanging on strings so that our visitors could read your lovely messages as well. This was also the very first day after we finished phase 1 of a massive ongoing ceiling renovation project, so we were blessed as well to finally have the large scaffolding down (at least for now!) and to be able to access the entire church building. We have decided that even after the event is over, we will still continue displaying the cards as a permanent exhibition in the back of the church, and we will continue adding to it over time if anyone else continues to send us postcards. If you are ever able to make it out to Rīga one day, then perhaps you can find your card on our wall! Thanks again for your friendship and cooperation in making this idea a reality! Yours in Christ, St. Saviour's Anglican Church in Riga |
ConsumedA Program of Revitalization Our spirituality is who we are, and our spiritual journey is as long as the days of our lives. At the end, each of us will have spent it on something; something will have consumed us. As Christians, we hope to be consumed by Christ, or, as the Apostle Paul states, "to live our lives for Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us." Consumed is a three-year journey geared toward providing you with the foundation and tools for a spirituality of knowing God, learning and living Jesus, and leading others into just such a quest. For more information, visit our website. |
