Holy Hoedown was a rootin' tootin' success!St. Peter's, Calgary Stampede Breakfast packed 'em in St. Peter's Calgary invited the neighbours to "Y'all come" to our Stampede Breakfast July 6, and, hoo doggies did they ever take us up on it! At least 300 people dined on our flapjacks & sausages (and more) and jumped in our bouncy castle, played games & made crafts in our Kids' Corral. (We went through 86 litres of pancake batter, 590 sausages and untold gallons of coffee!) We fed their spirits as well as their bellies, with toe-tappin' bluegrass Gospel tunes and a short & lively message about the Prodigal Tenderfoot and his ornery big brother. Rev. Bonnie and Rev. Rob couldn't be more grateful to the enormous posse of volunteers who stepped up to make the breakfast a success, or to our neighbours at Smile Studio Dental Clinic, for sponsoring the event. (Watch this highlight reel and scroll through these photos to see our gang of outlaws (and in-laws) in action!)
Yahoo – y'all come back next year! |

Education for MinistryRegistration is now open Looking for a way to deepen your understanding of the Christian faith and enhance the connection between what you believe and how you live your daily life? The Education for Ministry (EfM) program combines independent study and weekly small group discussions to provide a basic grounding in theology to Christian laypeople. The EfM curriculum explores the content and origins of Scripture, follows Church history from its earliest days, and examines issues in Christian theology. Group members engage in individual and group theological reflection throughout their studies to bring our different life experiences and perspectives into conversation with our faith, helping to discern God’s call to each of us. EfM is an extension program of an Episcopal theological school; there is a lot to read (including the whole Bible) but there are no exams. Students commit to one year at a time and those completing all four years of the program receive a certificate of completion. For more information on registration or this program, please contact Jennifer Solem at efmcalgary@outlook.com. |

Sacred Circle Coming to Calgary this SummerAugust 5 to 10 Volunteers Needed - especially Drivers for August 4 and 10. Sacred Circle, the main governing body of the Indigenous Anglican Church, will continue to give shape to the emerging self-governing institution when it meets Aug. 5-10 in Calgary, Alberta. National Indigenous Archbishop Chris Harper says key topics will include working out the procedural structures needed to put its founding documents, Our Way of Life and the Covenant, into practice; discussing an equitable method of picking representatives to Sacred Circle from across Canada; analyzing the funding available to the Indigenous church; and potentially even choosing a new national Indigenous Archbishop. How can you be part of this groundbreaking initiative? We also need Greeters, document deliverers, first aiders, Elder attendants, and booth minders. Can you help for four hours? What day(s) could you come? Any day that works for you would work for us. You will see firsthand the work of the Anglican Church in meeting the needs of all people and congregations who love God and desire to worship in their own unique and meaningful way. Contact Lois Reid to offer your help and to make a difference at this conference. |

Alongside Hope (PWRDF)
We did it – because of you. Your compassion. Your generosity. Your willingness to act. Together, we met our $250,000 goal for the Resilience Fund. And because of that, every dollar was matched. That means $500,000 is now on its way to communities across East Africa, bringing hope where it’s urgently needed. But this moment is about more than money. It’s about what that money means.
In a year filled with sudden aid cuts and growing need, you stepped in. And the matching gift doubled your impact, multiplying healing and hope across entire communities. From all of us at Alongside Hope, and from the partners who work courageously on the frontlines: |
