Anglican Diocese of Calgary
Newsletter for October 31, 2019

Missional Minute

Our Diocesan Vision Statement: To be a church that is inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit; a church that reflects the virtue and grace of Jesus; a church reaching out to proclaim God's love to a broken world.

What are the ways that a church might be missional?  By Providing Vital and Authentic Worship.  When we worship, would a visitor who shows up get the sense that we are not just attending out of obligation?  Would a visitor see people offering themselves in worship to God -- a God who empowers, renews and refreshes us through Word and sacrament?  Would people see us as transformed through our worship and reflecting the God we encounter to the world around us?

Think about your worship.  Does it touch your intellect?  Does it move you to periods of silence and adoration?  If so, we are engaging in worship which transforms not only us but reaches out to others.

Ten Thousand Villages Shopping Event

In Support of PWRDF

On Wednesday, November 20, the Ten Thousand Villages Crowchild store is once again generously opening its doors in support of PWRDF, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Please note that this is not the usual Sunday afternoon that we have had the past three years.  The store will be open solely for PWRDF so this is a heads up to advertise the event to your churches, friends, families and wider contacts.  We want to have a great turn out which will benefit Ten Thousand Villages and PWRDF's partners and, of course, yourselves with a feast of shopping to be had in time for Christmas.  Ten Thousand Villages will donate 15% of the takings that evening to PWRDF, so the more we shop, the more we'll be helping!

Jan Heath, the parish rep for Church of the Good Shepherd, is organizing this and would welcome some help for the evening.  She can be reached at (403) 277-3876 or click here to email.
