Newsletter for November 14, 2019

Missional Minute

Our Diocesan Vision Statement: To be a church that is inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit; a church that reflects the virtue and grace of Jesus; a church reaching out to proclaim God's love to a broken world.

"All Scripture is inspired by God, and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16)

Formation means to have our lives, attitudes, beliefs and actions shaped by Apostolic Teaching contained in the Scriptures and in the teaching of Tradition of the Church.  It begins with basic instruction in the Christian faith, is deepened through personal or group study of the Scriptures, enriched by spiritual direction, then lived out by engaging in mission in the world.

Where are you at in your formation?  What areas of teaching or training do you feel called towards?  What have you been taught that you can now share in Missional Witness to those around you?  May you be "...proficient, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:17)

Sacred Space CoWorking: We are opening an ecumenical sacred co-working space for those who need a professional work setting free of distractions.  Sacred Space CoWorking upholds both work and worship as equally sacred.  Each Thursday morning begins with prayers of blessing and intention after which the community blesses the workspace and begins work.  Around noon, we break for a 15 minute meditation/prayer time together.  The workday ends with a brief closing prayer.  The start date for our free pilot project begins Thursday, November 14 with the space opening up for a fee starting in January.  If you are interested or would like a tour of the facility, please contact Elizabeth Short at (403) 660-5636 or send an email to allsaintsretreatcentre@outlook.com. Ten Thousand Villages Shopping Event

Ten Thousand Villages Shopping Event

In Support of PWRDF

On Wednesday, November 20, the Ten Thousand Villages Crowchild store is once again generously opening its doors in support of PWRDF, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Please note that this is not the usual Sunday afternoon that we have had the past three years.  The store will be open solely for PWRDF so this is a heads up to advertise the event to your churches, friends, families and wider contacts.  We want to have a great turn out which will benefit Ten Thousand Villages and PWRDF's partners and, of course, yourselves with a feast of shopping to be had in time for Christmas.  Ten Thousand Villages will donate 15% of the takings that evening to PWRDF, so the more we shop, the more we'll be helping!

Jan Heath, the parish rep for Church of the Good Shepherd, is organizing this and would welcome some help for the evening.  She can be reached at (403) 277-3876 or click here to email.

Prayer Requests

Please remember in your prayers:

- those who are sick or suffering, especially Janet, Jackie, Dana, Leanne and Eileen.

- those who have died and those who mourn

- the victims of the violence and natural disasters

- our Companion Diocese of the Windward Islands, and their Bishop Leopold Friday

Request a prayer:

Send prayer requests to ctubman@calgary.anglican.ca to let us know how we can pray for you.  We will only use first names which will be removed after two or three weeks.  We will also pray for you during our regular Chapel services each week.  Please ensure that you have permission from those whose names you are submitting for prayer, and that they understand their name will be made public to all who subscribe to the Newsletter.

We'd Like to Hear from You

We are interested in what is happening in your parish and would love to highlight those events and news in our newsfeed.

We look forward to your contributions - feel free to forward your event announcements, your parish news, your stories.  Send in your details and pictures to ctubman@calgary.anglican.ca.
